Please avoid submitting confidential, highly sensitive, medical, financial, or identification information through the contact or perspective forms.

Information collected automatically

Our hosting and security providers may automatically process limited technical information when you visit the website, including:

  • browser and device type;
  • requested pages;
  • date and time of access;
  • referring page;
  • diagnostic, security, and error information.

This information is used to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the website.

  • review and manage reader perspectives;
  • send newsletters requested by subscribers;

We do not sell or rent personal information.

3. Reader perspectives

Perspectives submitted through the website are reviewed privately before publication.

We will not publish your email address. We may contact you about your submission using the address you provide.

If we want to publish or incorporate your perspective into an article, we may edit it for length, spelling, clarity, formatting, or privacy while preserving its meaning. Where appropriate, we may contact you before publication.

Do not submit material that you do not have the right to share.

4. Newsletter

Newsletter subscriptions are handled through Beehiiv. When you submit your email address, it is sent to Beehiiv so it can manage your subscription and deliver emails.

You may unsubscribe using the link included in any newsletter. Beehiiv processes information under its own privacy terms.

5. Google authentication

Google sign-in is provided for authorised editorial users. When an authorised user signs in, Google may provide basic account information required for authentication.

Google’s processing of information is governed by Google’s own privacy policy. The website does not receive or store your Google password.

6. Cookies

The website may use cookies or similar browser storage that are necessary for authentication, security, theme preferences, and essential website operation.

We do not currently use advertising cookies or sell information for targeted advertising. If optional analytics or advertising technologies are introduced, this policy will be updated and consent will be requested where required.

You may control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent some features, including sign-in, from working.

7. Service providers

We use third-party providers to operate the website. These may include:

  • Vercel for website hosting and server infrastructure;
  • Neon for database hosting;
  • Google for authentication;
  • Beehiiv for newsletter subscriptions; and
  • Ko-fi for optional financial support.

These providers may process limited information on our behalf or under their own terms. When you leave this website for an external service, that service’s privacy policy applies.

Payments made through Ko-fi are processed by Ko-fi and its payment providers. We do not directly receive or store your complete payment-card details.

8. International processing

Some service providers may process or store information outside Kenya. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to use reputable providers and appropriate safeguards consistent with applicable law.

9. Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including responding to messages, managing submissions, maintaining security, and meeting legal requirements.

Information may be deleted, anonymised, or retained for a longer period when reasonably required by law, security, dispute resolution, or the protection of legal rights.

No website or method of electronic storage can guarantee absolute security. You provide information online at your own risk.

This website and its submission features are intended for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
